Personality:
First and most important of all, Logan's a true loner. He likes being on his own, knowing not much else. You often see him with a grim and somewhat bored expression. It's rather difficult to really get through and learn to know the real Logan, as he's not that fond of others. He knows how to deal with his own business, and that's what he'll do. If necessary he'll help his friends, though it's hard to become a friend of him because he's such a loner. It's like a never-ending circle. Nothing is easy with Logan, it seems. Rather than really joining a team, Logan still prefers to act alone. Oh, not always, he can work in a team... For a certain time. Sometimes this 'weakness' is also a strong point, since there are moments you'd better be alone, but overall it isn't an advantage to be a loner. Not when it comes to things as fighting others which can be stronger/smarter/more explosive. Not only is he quite a loner, he also 'hates' orders. Yeah, he can take orders, for some time. He just absolutely loathes is, for he reckons there still are things he knows better, especially considering what he should do. After all, he fought in four wars and he also fought other, personal, wars. He quite often rebels, against the team, simply leaving them for his own business, and coming back one day to just fit in again, at least, for as far as a person like Logan actually fits in a team, or against orders, which he simply doesn't obey or even withstands. That doesn't make him the best-loved person, but he doesn't really care, for he knows what he does is right, at least in his own eyes.
And as if it isn't enough he's a feral man, listening to his instincts. This makes him rather unpredictable, for you never know what he's going to do next. And this feral, unpredictable side -if it's only a side- has no problems whatsoever with killing. Logan's got quite a temper, when you say something he can't appreciate, it'll flare up and he might get aggressive. Or might... The chances are pretty much against you.
He's also stubborn and some sort of rebellious. He doesn't care what others think about him, as long as he can simply go on with his stuff. If he thinks he
should go left, you have to be impressively persuasive to make him turn 'round and go to the right. Not only that, but when you're too fast deciding you have to do this or that, he'll rebel as well.
Another 'side' of him is the somewhat friendly part of him. It's hard to get through his shell, he's not that open and friendly to make friends within minutes of hours. He is charming, that's something you have to admit, but you have charming and charming. His charms are in the facts he's a somewhat secretive and very mysterious man, with his unique appearance and his love for loneliness. But when you get through that shell and get friends of Logan, he'll be loyal and very protective for his friends. To girls he'll can be that charming and even a little flirtatious, but he's not interested in long-term relationships.
There are a few important things for Logan, like honour, pride, loyalty and respect. He truly cares about those, it's what kept him going over the years, and will keep him going. Perhaps because of his times in the army, or maybe because some of the things that happened in his past, he genuinely lives after his own 'codes' considering honour, pride, loyalty and respect. He has respect for other people, say when they're stronger (at mind or at body) or when he finds they earn his respect. But when you loose it, which is pretty easy, you might get a second chance, but that's it. And he won't forget and forgive fast.
Another thing that bothers Logan, is his past. Or actually, what should be his past. He has amnesia, and is unable to remember his past. He doesn't know what is his real name, where he was born, and so on. But even though he doesn't know his past, he does have flashbacks and nightmares concerning this forgotten past. He has conflicting feelings concerning those flashbacks and nightmares: he hates them, because they distract him, but loves them because they give him information, things to figure out and somehow learn his true identity and the past that made him the way he is now.
One thing that saved Logans life, but what he thoroughly hates, is his 'berserker state'. When he's in that state, he is but a mere creature, not thinking reasonably. Actually, not thinking at all, just fighting and killing. It makes it even easier for him to kill without a second thought (even before he gives a first thought about it, for that matter) and saved his life in that way. The drawback of that state is that it's rather easy for him to kill familiar faces, even friends, before he can 'react' in the right way.
Powers:
* Regenerative healing factor
One of Logans 'many' powers is his regenerative power. Shortly said, his body cures himself from practically everything. For example, if he cuts himself while slicing off some cheese, he'll feel some pain, like an ordinary human, and he'll bleed. But where a human has to wait a week, maybe two, before it's healed, Logan's healed within seconds. The pain will be gone, the wound will be gone, and there will be no scar.
Only minor injuries heal this fast, when they're more severe, the healing takes longer. It depends on the size and depth of the wound(s), how serious and severe they are, but they almost always heal within a day. But there always seems to be more.
Not only does this 'healing factor' takes care of his injuries, made by bullets, swords, knives, claws, fangs, teeth, whatever you can think of, it also deals with the other issues concerning being healthy. Wolverine actually never is sick. A simply flu doesn't stand a change against Wolverines immune system, nor do other poisonous things. Drugs, alcohol, tobacco, his healing factor neutralizes all the dangerous means? in it. With this in mind, you can pretty much say Wolverine can drink as much as he wants without getting totally waisted. Yeah, he'll get tipsy, perhaps even a bit drunk, but not as fast as a normal human. If he drinks with a human, he might get tipsy and nothing more.
And, as mentioned before, it neutralizes poisonous stuff. Drugs and medicines and poisons and stuff. You can't really poison him, if you would like to, it doesn't help a tiny bit. But, and that's not as great, it also gets rid of medicine pretty fast. Sedating Wolverine is practically impossible, 'cause his 'healing factor' deals with it before he starts to feel sleepy.
And, as if this still isn't enough, it also deals with those age ailments. For a man well over the hundred years old, he looks pretty good. That's because his body takes very well care of him, ensuring his health, and a healthy man doesn't have painful knees or fingers he can't get straight anymore, thus making Logan look way younger he actually is.
* Claws
The name says it all: Logan has claws. Three in each hand, about a foot long, and retractable. He has to make a fist before he can 'shoot' these claws. They were made of bone, a part of his skeleton, but when his skeleton was covered with adamantium, so were his claws. They now are strong enough to cut through practically everything, such as metals, wood, concrete or simple dirt. Or, when you're fighting, human flesh and bones.
* Superhuman senses, strength, agility, stamina and longevity
Wolverine has superhuman senses, strength, agility, stamina and longevity. The longevity is due to his healing factor: when your body eliminates age ailments and stuff, you won't get old that soon. And if it also heals (severe) injuries, it sure can take some time before you're an old man.
Wolverine also is stronger than an ordinary man of his age. Not only stronger, also more agile and he has more stamina. Presumably his healing factor keeps the muscle tissue from 'dying away' and curing the body from lactic, which makes the muscles cramp, hence giving him the stamina to go on, because he still is in a fine condition.
What is more an advantage and a disadvantage, are his superhuman senses, making him capable of seeing things at a maximum distance greater than a normal human’s. Also, his night vision is excellent, making it possible for him to see everything clearly even if he finds himself surrounded by thick darkness. His hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, and he is capable of recognizing people and objects by their scent only, even if that person or object is hidden. Wolverine can use these enhanced senses to track any creature with an impressive degree of success and he can even find a trace that has been cold for days.
* Adamantium-covered skeleton
This one also speaks for itself. For the Weapon X program, Logans skeleton was bonded with the indestructible metal adamantium. It hurt like hell and far worse, and it nearly killed him, but somehow he survived. It added over a 100 pounds to his weight, but it did make his bones unbreakable, and his claws weapons far dangerous than they ever were. With these 'knives' shooting out his fists, he can cut open virtually anything, which he instantly proved by fleeing from the scene, leaving scratch marks in the thick concrete pillars from his claws.
Weaknesses, limits:
* Pain && mutation/personality related
Even though Logan has his 'healing factor', he still feels his injuries. The pain is exactly the same comparing to a normal person that doesn't heal that fast. It's true, the pain disappears with the wounds, which is pretty soon, but untill it disappears, 'wounds' can hurt like hell and worse. Luckily, Logan can withstand quite some pain before it truly affects him, thus making it not such a weakness, but still...
* Metal && mutation related
Because Logans skeleton is covered with adamantium, which, after all, is nothing but a almost indestructible metal, which can give trouble when trying to get through metal detectors, or x-ray things. Normally he doesn't really have those issues, but when travelling it can be annoying. When you enter a museum (or try to enter) you have to make up quite a story to make them believe you don't carry a weapon. And where museums can be difficult to persuade, try some army guys on the airport. It isn't such a fantastic idea to tell them the truth about his adamantium-covered skeleton and his claws. Most men don't like things they don't understand, and this can be one of those things.
* Magnetism && mutation related
Due to the adamantium that covers his entire skeleton, head till toe, including claws, there isn't much that actually can damage him, but magnetism is very dangerous to him, because it 'attracts' the adamantium, taking along the rest of Logan that covers the skeleton.
* Rebellious loner && personality related
Rather than really joining a team, Logan still prefers to act alone. Oh, not always, he can work in a team... For a certain time. Sometimes this 'weakness' is also a strong point, since there are moments you'd better be alone, but overall it isn't an advantage to be a loner. Sample Post:
Wolverine had already spent the necessary hours in the institute, and since there weren't any classes he could help with -such as survivel, self-defense or combat- nor any Danger Room sessions, he decided to take the rest of the day off, not going to 'baby-sit' over the X-students or something alike. Instead, he had taken a car from the school -not even Cyclops' car- and had driven himself to a nice, calm and wooded area.
He could have lived in such an area, and, earlier in his life, he had spent some time living on his own in a forest somewhere in Canada, he thought. Living amongst the wolves, he could've joked, but he hadn't exactly lived with the wolves. Just shared a prey now and then. After parking the car somewhere he just walked into the woods. It just felt right, being in the woods where he could be exactly who he was: a very dangerous human with an animal inside him, that could easily take over.
His lips curled up in a soft smile as he walked further, deeper into the woods. Though he liked the kids and his team members back in the X-mansion, some freedom from time to time couldn't hurt. Not if they wanted him to stay longer.
While he simply strolled through the wood, he suddenly heard something. Immediately he stopped, clenching his hands to fist so that he, if it would be necessary, was ready to extrude his claws. Slightly sniffing as he started to walk towards the sound, though he didn't see anyone there. But there was a fresh scent and he just heard something. He trusted his instincts, and those told him there was somebody else here.
Relaxed -at least for an unknowing eye- he leaned against a tree, his hands still clenched together, awaiting a movement or something else somewhere near by. He wasn't in the mood for silly games or tracking the scent down to its owner, thus he simply waited. One had to move, eventually. And Logan had more than enough time.
